Bathing is a critical part a toddlers hygiene making him clean all over and feeling fresh. For most toddlers, it is a fun time to play and for the parents opportunity to teach the child to form the habit of enjoying a healthy bath. Bathing children the right way from the very beginning can teach them to trust their caregivers and to look forward to time set aside for personal care. Even though toddlers are reluctant to take a bath, with care and patients they can be taught to enjoy the bath time. The easy method to bring them to this goal is to use some diversions that they will enjoy. Here are some fun tricks that will catch the attention of the toddlers and keep them engrossed while you give them a nice bath. Bath toys that float on the surface or squirt water are great diversions. These toys can be given only during the bathing as an incentive or reward for agreeing to bath. Boats and rubber ducks are classic examples of such bath time toys. Kids feel very comfortable when they are with toys they love. Adding a small amount of bubble bath is also a grand idea. Almost every kids love to play with bubbles. Use a mild combination of bubble bath or baby soap to create the bubbles so that it wont hurt their eyes or sensitive body parts. Many parents make use of bath paints and bath chalks to effectively keep their toddles engrossed in their play and forget that they are having a bath. It is fun for them to draw on the sides of the tub or shower walls. Although these are entertaining, most parents prefer to use this tactic only occasionally because it may get a little messy sometimes. Also, allow your child help you gather and organize everything you will need for the bath. This will make him feel responsible and grown up. Let him help you select a clean, soft towel and washcloth, mild soap, a mild shampoo, a good, soft bath brush, two or three special bath toys, bath salts or bubble bath to make soft bubbles. It is better to avoid bath oil for very young toddlers. Their skin usually doesnt need the moisturizers, and the oil can make the tub slippery. If a toddler slips in the tub, he might get hurt or become afraid of the bathtub. If your child has a fear of water, start with only two or three inches of water in the tub. Let him put his toys in the tub and wash them with the shampoo, soap, and washcloth. Make a game of playing with the bubbles, and a game of getting his skin wet and soapy. When giving a bath to the child, the utmost thing in your mind should be safety. Always make sure that the water temperature is comfortable to the kid. Too cold are hot water is not only makes the child dislike bathing, but has the grave danger of harming the kid. Also, never leave your toddler in a tub of water alone, not even for a few seconds. If the doorbell or phone rings and you have to answer, wrap your little one in a towel and take him with you. Toddlers can be scalded or drown in a very short time.
